Question #1:

What would Canadians do if hockey never existed?

Would they have been committed mass suicide if hockey was no more?

Question #2:

Goon proponents, with that Cooke hit will you finally admit that fighting doesn't regulate hockey?

That's your argument, that somehow Cooke will get into a fight the next time the Bruins and Pens face, and that will make it all better... a player people actually want to see on TV, Savard was worth the risk? The cheap shots we'll see against Crosby and Malkin will be worth it? and when someone like that is out for the year injured, and all we can see is Goons, you'll just have 2 or 3 people in Ottawa and New Jersey watching, and Versus will look like a good TV contract in comparison to where Hockey is downgraded by you who love fighting, and pretend that's loving hockey.
The fact is, in the 70s when NHL play was regularly stopped for 15 minutes for large scale fights, nobody watched hockey. People watched the Olympics, and there was no fighting, and no major blindside cheap shots either.

Question #3:

do all air hockey tables have air holes?

I want to buy one for my brother, But it needs to have the air coming from the table. How do I know what to look for?

Question #4:

what is the logo of the hockey hall of fame from 1991?

Question #5:

Do you think Canadians are a little competitive?

Don't get me wrong, I love my neighbors to the north. But why do Canadians get so defensive? I have a ton of Canadian friends (mostly from hockey), and every time I brought up the olympics, they immediately pointed out their gold medals (especially in hockey).

And, I've begun to realize Canadians are more nationalistic than Americans, and although claim to be peaceful, are often very confrontational (especially when it comes to USA/Canada debates). At the risk of sounding pompous, I'd propose it's an inferiority complex, maybe even go so far as to say there is some denial.

Plus, they tend to be somewhat, err, (dare I say) ignorant when it comes to flaws. As an American, I know I'm hardly one to talk about flaws, but at least I realize there is a problem with our healthcare, our budget, immigration, world relations, etc. Most Canadians I know think Canada is impervious to flaws, and fail to see the issues with THEIR healthcare, corrupt government, etc.

I know I've probably pissed off some people, but please go easy on me... do you agree?

Question #6:

Will I be good at Ice skating if I keep Practicing?

This is the fourth time I've been ice skating and it seems that every time I go on, I forget everything that I learned last time. Usually when I get off the ice, I feel really comfortable and I can skate pretty well, but once i go back on i lose all my skills. Is this normal? When will I be able to get really good so that I can play shinny? Also, will this work? If I keep practising on my own, will I eventually get good?

I also need to learn how to hockey stop and go backwards. Can I learn on my own or do i NEED lessons?

Question #7:

A sporting poll question not about politics: Would basketball be more exciting?

if they made it harder to score points ?

My favorite sport is hockey, because you really have to work for a goal and that makes scoring in hockey much more interesting than the 200 or so points scored in a typical pro game of basketball.

So by making the basket height 11 feet or more would make the guards more valuable and put more emphasis on the outside scoring threat than going in for an easy lay up or dunk don’t you think…

Question #8:

How long does it take to break in Hockey skates?

I have the CCM U+pro I have had them baked. I skate for about 20 Min's then my feet cramp and I have to sit for 5. Im also new to skating.

Question #9:

What jersey is better Toronto home jersey or Toronto to alternate jersey?

I like both jerseys especially the alternate one because it has the strings and the hard designed maple leafs symbol. I like the blue one because it looks better but when i play road hockey with the blue on it always jinxes me. but i haven't tried the alternate one because i don't own it yet.

Question #11:

Girls only plz! strange thing happened at hockey game. What does it mean?

Okay, I was playing a hockey play-off game. 2 girls around my age were watching from the stands, and throughout the game, they apparently kept checking me out and pointing at me (I caught them once, the rest of the time it was my friend pointing it out). Is it my friend just messing with me? If not what does it mean?

Note: they seemed to be looking for somebody after the game. Either they didn't recognize who they were looking for, or simply I am wrong... Awkwardness
well, i am a hockey player lol, so i'm not fat!

Question #12:

Do I have a right to be upset about this?

At the end of the month, my family is going to a hockey game to celebrate my cousins birthday. My mom doesn't want me staying home alone that night, and I'm not very comfortable with it either. So this weekend I asked my cousin, who I'm close with, if she would like to sleep over the night of the game, or I go to her house. At first she said that she will, but a few hours later told me that she's trying to get tickets for a concert that supposed to be that same night. She told me she would know by next weekend. But tonight, she posted her status on facebook that she's hoping to get these tickets because she really wants to go.
It's not definite yet if she ends up going, but if she does, do I have a right to be upset? I don't have many friends, I'm kinda a loner, so it's not like I can find someone else to spend my night with.

Question #13:

What would two hockey players say to each other when they agree to fight?

So, if a hockey player (OHL or NHL) wants to fight someone - how would he say so?

Wikipedia:
" The most important aspect of this etiquette is that opposing enforcers must agree to a fight, usually via a verbal or physical exchange on the ice."

Would he just insult him? Ask to fight ("Do you want to fight")? Insult his team/family? Remind him of a previous fight? Challenge him ("I can pwn you n00b")? Is there a phrase for it?

Sorry - I don't know much about hockey :(

Question #14:

"Richard" pronounced "Rich aard"?

Why is the name "Richard" pronounced like "Rich-aard" in the hockey world? Is it because in French "Richard" is pronounced "Reeechard", and English ppl sorta mix the two pronunciations together?
But "Richards" is still pronounced normally... o.O

Question #15:

I get filled with anxiety, negative thoughts and nervousness before playing hockey against rough teams?

As the title says. When I know I am playing a club that has a reputation for being rough, with alot of players that aren't scared to stir up the pot on the ice, I get very nervous. I don't understand why because I am a large player, and part of my game is intimidation, and I have never shy'd away from a fight. I have also never lost a fight this season against some of the well known goon's in our league. I think people know me and are maybe even fear me. With that being said I still think negatively and I am very scared. I wouldn't admit this to any of my teammates so I want to ask here.

I read our schedule and we have a game 3 weeks from now against the roughest club in the league. I can't stop thinking about that game and I keep replaying trash talking/fight/brawl scenarios. Its starting to drive me nuts, and I have trouble focusing on my college work which is more important than a hockey game. How to I think positive in this situation?
I already know how to fight. I dont need to learn how to fight to not be nervous.

Question #16:

What do u do when ur not at school?

it seems like im always doing homework or at hockey practice when im not at school or sleeping. i have absolutely no time to hang out with my friends on the week days (except for at school) and a lot of times i am busy on the weekends. how do u find ways to have some sort of a social life?

Question #17:

Is the Pokerstars commercial with Phil Negreanu and the two hockey players incorrect?

They show Phil Negreanu getting dealt a pair of kings. As the commercial progresses, he talks about like trusting your instincts and knowing when to get out of the way. Then, they show a visual of him on the ice of a hockey game and two opposing hockey players, who represent two other poker players, are barreling down against him - he luckily steps out of the way at the last moment and avoids getting pummeled. Basically, this is symbolic of him folding his two kings, because the flop shows an Ace - and so he rightfully believes that one or both of those other players caught an Ace pair, which would beat his two kings.

But, is this flawed? I mean, if you got dealt two kings, wouldn't you go all-in before the flop??
EDIT - Not Phil Negreanu, but Daniel Negreanu. Sorry.
